Warriors' Klay Thompson has infinite ambitions for his career

During a trip to China, Klay Thompson encountered a statue of Thanos, the nemesis from the last Avengers movies. In them, the powerful warlord from the moon of Titan collects six Infinity Stones and uses them to kill half the population of the universe.

"Thanos! Who let Thanos in here?" exclaimed Klay, before explaining, "I'm trying to get five rings like Thanos." Thompson then proceeded to count five Infinity Stones before admitting there were "technically six, but we won't count that one."

Which of the Infinity Stones have Thompson's Warriors already mastered?

First, there's the Space Stone. The high-volume three-point shooting from Thompson and Steph Curry has demonstrated the importance of spacing to the rest of the NBA. 

Then there's the Reality Stone, which has the power to warp reality — like the idea that a jump-shooting team couldn't win an NBA title, or that a 6-foot-6 power forward like Draymond Green can't be the best defensive center in the league.

The Power Stone can annihilate entire planets, and the Warriors annihilated the entire Western Conference for years, reaching five straight NBA Finals and not losing a playoff series there for over nine years. 

And the Soul Stone can remove an enemy's soul, something that last-second Curry threes have done to many an NBA player. To obtain that power, one has to sacrifice something they love. Thanos threw Gamora off a cliff; the Warriors ditched loyal teammate Harrison Barnes to add Kevin Durant in 2016.

If the Warriors are going to get a fifth ring, like Thanos, they'll need to find their own version of the Time Stone, which can turn back the clock. That might be necessary with an aging roster that includes 35-year-old Curry and 38-year-old Chris Paul, plus Thompson himself, who may have to play like an iron man to get Golden State back to the top.

But if the Warriors can run the playoff gauntlet again, no on will be able to deny their status as one of the universe's greatest basketball teams. Even if Green almost ruins the whole thing by going crazy like Star Lord and punching a guy instead of sticking to his defensive assignment.
