Isles Re-sign Jurcina, Panthers Loan Reinprecht to German Team.
The NY Islanders recently shipped out two pending unrestricted free agents in goalie Dwayne Roloson and defenseman Jame Wisniewski but they're keeping Milan Jurcina around for another season.
On Wednesday the Isles announced Jurcina had re-signed a one-year, $1.6 million contract extension, taking the 27-year-old blueliner off the free agent market. In 19 games this season he had 4 points, 12 PIMs and a plus-minus of +1.
The Florida Panthers meanwhile have loaned veteran center Steven Reinprecht to Germany's Mannheim Eagles for the remainder of this season.
Reinprecht, 34, was in the second season of a three year deal with the Panthers paying him a cap hit of $2.050 million per season. He had been seen as the club's second line center to start the season but after 29 games had only 10 points and was on pace for 25, the lowest total of his career.
GM Dale Tallon is believed to have tried unsuccessfully to trade him and after clearing waivers didn't want his salary riding the buses in the minors.
The move clears most of his salary from the Panthers cap space for the remainder of this season.
